On the morning of January 2, 2018 SERVPRO of Oxford/Batesville/Clarksdale responded to a commercial fire loss at a four-story hotel in Oxford, MS.  At 4:30 A.M. a fire started in the air handling units located on the roof of the building.  Units from multiple stations of the Oxford Fire Department quickly responded to assist in the evacuation of the hotel and to fight the fire on the roof.  The fire fighters had to remove a large portion of the smoldering roofing materials to be able to extinguish the flames.  In doing so, water ran downward into the structure affecting 42 guests rooms and common areas from the fourth floor down into the lobby.  Throughout the coming weeks the size of the affected areas would be almost doubled due to the severe winter weather.  Our crews' battled rain, snow, and ice penetrating the structure from the roof.  

Phase 1 began the morning of January 3, 2018 with the placement of four descent, six generators, and two mobile light trees.  The fuel consumption for the equipment on this project exceeded 800 gallons of diesel fuel a day.  For the next 31 days SERVPRO worked hand in hand with insurance adjusters as well as property owners and property managers to insure complete customer satisfaction.  

Phase 2 began the morning of February 5, 2018 with the packing out of all remaining contents.  SERVPRO worked with over 40 laborers to clean, wrap, pack, and store the contents from the unaffected areas of the structure.  Crews would bring contents from the upper floors to a cleaning station set up in the lobby.  Each items was cataloged, cleaned, wrapped, and packed before being transported to an offsite climate controlled storage facility.  SERVPRO used over 8,000 boxes, 37 miles of foam wrap, and occupied 67 storage units.
