How To Dispose of A Real Christmas Tree Properly

Christmas has come and gone so now it is time to pack up the decorations and discard of your tree.  If you choose to have a real tree to celebrate the holidays, it is important to know the proper ways to dispose of the tree properly to ensure they are not a fire risk.  One way to discard of your tree properly is recycling.  Check your local city utility service to see if your community offers a recycling service such as curbside pickup.

However, some people choose to burn their trees instead.  If you choose to do so, use extreme caution.  Be sure to check your local ordinances to ensure there is not a county burn ban in place.  Also never burn on dry or windy days.  Select a burn location that is far away from your home, natural areas, and roads.  Be sure to remove all ornaments and cut the tree into manageable sections.  Never leave a fire unattended and have a water source and a shovel to suppress the fire if one occurs.  And finally, call 911 immediately to report any fires.
